In place of curtains in my room there are wooden shutters, on the inside and then the windows open inwards also but they open to a completely roofed area, , with tile stairs and wrought iron railings. Actually the first floor of stairs are more superior. .. made from marble with iron hooks at the join of each tread and riser, the hooks were to fasten brass rails to, to hold the carpets in place when important guests were expected, because the first floors were owned by landlords back in the day, and only Tenants above, hence the change from marble to tile. The light switches here are huge approx 6x6 cm I mean the button part not including the casing. But they function with grace no clack. ( I wouldn't have thought I could have written about light switches on these travels)
Might I add that this being the staircase my hosts live up . . . That among other things They have a full size piano up here. And this morning I can see by the scrapings on the beautiful wooden railings that another large item has been dragged up last night.
